Gutenberg SEO — Block Editor Sidebar Integration

Rank Forge has a first-class Gutenberg sidebar that puts every SEO tool directly in the block editor. No separate meta box below the content, no context switching — your SEO score, focus keyword, issues list, Fix buttons, and SERP preview are all in the right sidebar while you write.

What the Gutenberg sidebar includes

SEO score circle

Prominent at the top of the sidebar, showing the current SEO score (0–100) with color coding. Updates in real time as you edit content. Click the circle to see a breakdown of what’s contributing to the score.

Focus keyword input

Set the focus keyword for the post. Rank Forge highlights occurrences in the editor as you type, making it visually obvious whether your keyword appears in the right places (title, first paragraph, headings, alt text).

SEO title and meta description

Edit the SEO title and meta description directly in the sidebar, with:

Character counters (60 for title, 160 for description)
Hard limit enforcement
SERP preview that updates live
AI generate buttons next to each field

Issues list

Every SEO issue flagged on the post appears as a collapsible item in the sidebar. Each has:

Severity badge (error, warning, info)
Short description of the issue
AI Fix button for one-click resolution
“Learn more” link to documentation

Click any issue to expand it and see the full explanation and fix options.

Re-analyze button

Click to re-run SEO analysis on the current content. Useful after making manual edits that the auto-analysis didn’t pick up.

Schema panel

Shows the currently-active schema type for the post (auto-detected) with an option to override or customize via the Visual Schema Builder.

Social preview

Open Graph and Twitter Card preview shown live. Edit per-post OG title, description, and image here.

AI tools

Quick access to AI Content Brief generation, AI Content Optimizer, and AEO score analysis — all without leaving the editor.

Real-time analysis

The Gutenberg sidebar runs analysis in real time as you edit. This means:

Type a new paragraph, see the word count update
Add an H2 heading, see the heading structure check turn green
Insert an image, see the alt text check flag “missing alt”
Add an internal link, see the internal links count increase

No need to save the post to see SEO feedback. The loop between “I changed something” and “I see the SEO impact” is under a second.

Collapsible panels

The sidebar uses Gutenberg’s native panel system, so each Rank Forge section (Score, Keyword, Title/Description, Issues, Schema, Social, AI) can be collapsed. Customize which panels are open by default in Rank Forge settings.

Block-level detection

Rank Forge reads individual Gutenberg blocks, not just raw HTML:

Heading blocks are parsed for hierarchy
Paragraph blocks contribute to word count and readability
Image blocks are checked for alt text
List blocks contribute to structured content scoring
Quote blocks are treated as potential citation sources
Table blocks contribute to content richness
FAQ / Details / Accordion blocks are auto-detected for FAQPage schema
Code blocks are excluded from readability scoring

Custom blocks

For custom blocks from third-party plugins, Rank Forge uses standard WordPress block parsing to extract translatable strings. Any block that uses save() with standard HTML output is analyzed correctly.

Template parts and patterns

Gutenberg template parts (used in site editor) and block patterns are analyzed as part of the page context, not just the post content itself.

Classic editor support
